View Full Version : Rooting Samsung Mini Problem!

I have just used Super One Click to root a GT - S5570 mobile. The icon for Superuser is on the screen and therefore, I assume I have rooted the phone.
However, after installing Titanium Backup (root) and attempting to run it, I get the following error message:
Sorry I could not acquire root privileges. This app will not work! ... This attempt was made using the "system/bin/su" command. http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

If anyone can help me that would be great! http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

I have found that there are two settings necessary in order for root apps to work properly.

One is the setting to allow installation of non-Market applications. The checkmark for that should be checked, means the setting should be enabled.

Second is the USB debugging setting should be enabled too. That is found in Development under Applications... atleast on my phone.

I have found that if any of these settings is turned off, the root apps like Titanium does not work on my phone.

You can check if these are enabled on your phone.

Another possibility is that although the SuperUser app icon is on the mobile, the mobile is not rooted yet.

If it was me, I would rely more on rooting procedure for your phone from xda developers forum, rather than some other software.

Search for your phone model on Xda Developers forum, and then find out the thread for its rooting. They have exact files, and nicely written procedures. I had rooted my phone from there only. You have to just make sure it's the file for your exact phone model.

Thanks Anupam,
I checked the phone and USB debugging was checked, but installation of non-Market apps wasn't - I made sure it was checked and then ran TBU again, but got the same error message.

I used this link from XDA: http://yagyagaire.blogspot.co.uk/201...2-devices.html (http://yagyagaire.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/how-to-root-froyoandroid-22-devices.html)

Torres, that does not seem to be for your phone.

If you look at the compatibility list here, for Super One Click:

your phone model is not listed.

So, I guess your phone isn't really rooted IMO.

By the model number GT-S5570, your phone should be Samsung Galaxy Mini. The forum for this is here on Xda:

You can find several helpful links here. I found the link for rooting here only. Down in the above thread, you can find a rooting video under the Video heading.

Happy reading, and happy rooting http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.

I believe it is for my phone as it is running FROYO 2.2.1.
After I clicked on Root within the Super One Click GUI it asked if I wanted to run a test, I clicked on Yes and then it told me everything was OK.
Thanks for the links - I installed Samsung KIES to my DT prior to running SOC.
I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but hey what's new!!
