View Full Version : Best Free Browsers for Android

Which are the best free browsers for Android?

The one which comes pre-installed on my phone does not have tabs, so I would definitely need one.

I have seen that Dolphin Browser HD is hugely popular, and it has loads of good features too... and I would have gone for it, but I recently read somewhere, that Dolphin Browser had some privacy issues. It was sending the unique ID, and other information to their servers, and it had this issue earlier too. I don't remember where I read it... I will try to find and share here... but after that, I am not too keen on going for Dolphin anymore.

A new Android editor on our team recommended Opera Mini, and Boat Browser. I also came to know that there are two version of Opera, and some other browsers. Opera Mini, and Opera Full. What's the difference?

So, which are the good free browsers for Android out there? Lets see some opinions http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/smile.gif.

Many mobile browsers now come with tabs, give Maxthon Mobile (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mx.browser) a try and see if you like it.

Opera Mini is known for speed, I like to use it on devices with a smaller screen. Opera Mobile (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.opera.browser) is ideal for fast network connection.

opera mini uses opera's servers to optimize the site to reduce the data you have to download

opera full does the same but on your phone so it uses your phone's processor instead but gives you more control

I also like puffin browser too mainly because it seems to run flash fine for me :S

I switch between opera mini for speed/puffin for flash

Thanks for the suggestions guys http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/smile.gif... much appreciated.

How is Skyfire browser? That is also quite popular I think.

Well, here is the news about privacy concerns with Dolphin Browser :

http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10...in-plain-text/ (http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/10/27/privacy-advisory-dolphin-hd-sends-url-of-every-page-you-visit-to-a-remote-server-in-plain-text/)

http://androidcommunity.com/possible...ound-20111027/ (http://androidcommunity.com/possible-dolphin-browser-security-and-privacy-issues-found-20111027/)

Although this news is from Oct 2011 last year, and it seems they fixed the issue in the later releases, but still, there was an issue, and I personally won't feel comfortable with such a browser, which had some serious privacy issues earlier.
