View Full Version : "Firedroid" is on it's way

Mozilla are now entering this market with their own OS called Boot To Gecko, which promises to be different to the existing alternatives.

Thanks for this. This news has been all over the blogs today. I haven't read in detail, but from what I read, it will be a web based OS similar to Chrome OS.

It seems to me that Mozilla is now following Google, and I don't find that good. First, they made many changes to Firefox regarding its look, its development cycle, as per Chrome... and now I recently read that Firefox will soon have multi-process tabs too, just like Chrome... which I find a bad news, because we all know how much memory Chrome based browsers take up because of this feature. Although, it will achieve a secure browser, but memory usage also increases, and Firefox is already under quite a beating for heavy memory usage. I am not too fond of the multi-process tabs because of this.

I feel that Mozilla should come up with innovative ideas of its own, like they did with Firefox, and changed the world of browsing. Now, they just seem to follow what Google is doing, and that won't take them places.

I bet if someone coded just a simple, safe browser without the ability to install half the planet with it, folks would go "wow" http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif The problem with all this stuff, same as AV's, is they must be "new", must have "more". It appears no one ever learned from the 60's washing powder ads which were all "new and improved" yet yer socks still came out the same grey color they went in as http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Well, K-Meleon is simple and safe, but does not make me go WOW http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif. More is good, but there should be a limit as to how much more.. and things should be in balance. Firefox has been a balanced browser till now, even with recent changes of Chrome like looks. But, I fear that it might go into a down trend by trying to follow Chrome too much.. because of market pressure. Even with all the things going around, I feel that individuality should be maintained.
