View Full Version : Current Gen 1 Year

Does anyone think that the verge should write new reviews of the xbox one and the PS4 talking about the state of each console in current conditions. I know both consoles have made huge strides and I'd love to see where people and the verge think which console offers more now.

I think that would best be done at the end of the year when both consoles have had a non-launch year fall period. It would fit in nicely with the rest of the wrap up stuff at the end of the year and it could provide good advice for people buying a console for Christmas.

It is a good idea though, and I hope we see something like this.

As far as I go, I have a PS4 and that is the console I would buy today. If Xbox had kept Titanfall as an exclusive then I would probably pick one up when it gets a slimmer model (my consoles sit on my desk in a dorm, so space counts) and a price cut/Halo bundle. As it stands now, Halo 5 is not enough to warrant the investment in another console.

I have a PS4 and love it, but I often catch myself looking at the grass on Microsoft’s side of the fence. Sony is really falling behind when it comes to multimedia apps – it’s not even close at this point. Hopefully Sony steps it up at their big event coming up.

Sidenote: I would still choose a PS4 today because I also have an old Roku hooked up for multimedia apps anyways. However, the Xbox One is looking really slick.

I agree, the verge should do a updated review on both consoles. Personally I have a Xbox One and I am very satisfied with the console so far. The UI is smooth, Kinect is surprising well done and the current and upcoming games are catering to my tastes more than the PS4 at the moment. Once the PS4 gets more of the exclusives that I am looking for, I will pick it up as well. PS4 is a great machine and the amount of time I played with it, I have enjoyed it as well.

It really is a tough decision on what console to purchase as both are great gaming devices. Both have their pros and cons. Basing on what each offers right now, I would give the node to Xbox based on the Kinect functionality and the media functionality. Saying that, I wouldn’t persuade anyone from purchasing a PS4. People get caught up on the console war waaaaay to much. When it comes down to it, it’s the enjoyment and the experience of the devices and both deliver in different ways. If someone prefers the Xbox One and enjoys it; good for them. Hell I still like to bring out my original NES and play Mario Bros. on it. It still is a enjoyable experience.

I have an xbox one. But I posted this because the landscape has shifted so much. All of the new monthly updates for Xbone make it so different than when it first came out. I also loved my choice but having not followed up on the PS4 side I want to hear more about how that side has developed. I absolutely love that Microsoft has been pushing monthly updates. Also EA Access kills it, I would have never bought some of the games in the vault but now find myself playing them everyday.
