View Full Version : Old Video Games

I am starting to go and replay all these old video game series and I would like some suggestions. I am young, so I did not have the privilege of growing up and collecting these games. I first decided to get all the Metroid games and later decided I would also like to get all of the Zelda ones (not all, more like most).
I am asking for suggestions. I have most of the necessary consoles (a Gameboy Advance SP, DS Lite, Gamecube, Wii) to find all of the games as remakes (like Metroid Zero Mission), ports (if I am missing one, there is always virtual console), and other methods. Any other series I should go through? I am steering away from Mario because I haven't been as attached to that franchise. They don't have to be made by nintendo either. They can be decently recent. Mega Man crossed my mind, but there just seems to be too many games to get them all and I have no idea where to start.
Thanks in advance.

A Wii can get you most of the Nintendo classics on VC. Zelda/Mario games.
If the Retron 5 finally came out, that would be a different story.

I am having a crisis with my my Wii right now and am borrowing a friend, so if I can avoid VC, I will. It doesn’t seem too much more expensive (by about $2) to buy a GBA version or another way, so that is my plan.

If you get a chance get/borrow Legend of Zelda Collectors (http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Legend-Of-Zelda-Collectors/dp/B0007W5IUS) disk for gamecube. It has
The Legend of Zelda
The Adventure of Link
Ocarina of Time
Majora’s Mask
Playable using a gamecube controller.
(I didn’t realise they sold for that much these days; I got mine free with a copy of Double Dash)

Most of the older games that were ported to the GBA are seeming to cost around $10. I found the Collectors disk on Gamestop for $30, so I am probably going with that. One question: I heard that Majoras Mask on that game suffers framerate drop with the audio, was it a problem for you? I don’t think it will be, but better safe than sorry.
