View Full Version : Wireless adaptor app missing

Hello I am currently using a windows 7 hp laptop and for months now the wireless adopter icon (the three bar icon in the task bar) has been missing, if we want to connect to our internet we have to do so through an Ethernet cable which after months of having to do so proves to be highly annoying. If anyone could help us we'd really appreciate it. (We used to have the wifi option but when we switched users it disappeared)

Hello, and Welcome

Are there any yellow exclamation marks next to Network adapters in Device Manager? What is the make and model of the computer?

Try this:

From your Start Menu go to Control Panel.

In Control Panel click Notification Area Icons.

Next to Network which of the following is set:
Show icon and notifications
Hide iocn and notifications
Only show notifications

If Show icon and notifications is not currently set, click the drop down arrow and select it.
Click OK.

This won't do any good if the issue is caused by your wireless adapter.
I went for the most basic thing to try.

Hello -

(and finally)

I would have preferred to see a Speccy link first, as these are "generic" : but

Please post a snapshot with Speccy for more system details -

Re: Missing Network Adapter for HP Pavillion laptop
OK...by the (HP) numbers...

First, install the chipset driver and reboot. First file listed. Will install the SMBus and USB 3 controllers.

Ethernet controller:

Network Controller:

PCI Device:

Unknown Device:

If you need the graphics driver, run the AMD Mobility Radeon Driver Verification Tool at the link below and it should find the correct graphics driver for the graphics adapter in your notebook.

Install the graphics driver second (right after the chipset driver) and reboot.

Hope there is something there for you -
